Bunk Johnson was a character in the ragtime age of jazz in New Orleans. His contributions to jazz are arguably amongst the greatest that ever lived, though he saw little of that in his lifetime. He had money problems most of his life, and was found in the 1930’s with most of his teeth missing, driving a tractor, and hauling rice for a living. The title claims that he is solvent now, and we are the ones in debt to his contributions.
